Update on Arctic Loon

Well, since the new year we haven't had too much time to work on the boat but we have been slowly plugging away. Ellery has installed all but one port light. Chari varnished all the cabinet doors. We have a mechanic working with us to get the engine running. We are also getting ready to order upholstery for the v-berth and salon. We are also excited to receive all of our lights in the mail!

Ringing in 2015 on Arctic Loon!

The last few days of 2014 were fairly productive. We installed the port and starboard chain plates, a port hole, thruhulls & seacocks. I even started polishing some of the bronze. It always feels like things are moving slowly but it partially because with every project, we have to search for the correct screws and bolts amongst everything that came with the boat!

We decided that we would celebrate New Years Eve on Arctic Loon, so we cranked up the heater (it's below zero here right now), used a couple thruhulls for candle holders, made pizza and drank Prosecco, all under a few blankets! Our first new year resolution is that next new years, Arctic Loon is floating!

We are off to a great start for 2015 because Ellery just installed the last thruhull, which means Arctic Loon could actually float right now!

Post-Christmas chain plate installation

Today, we scraped off the old paint and caulking from the chain plates and washers. Then we installed the starboard side chain plates. It turns out that the highest bolts were a little challenging to reach inside and tighten. We appreciate having Ellery's brother, Murray helping us out today!

Arctic Loon cabin pics

Here are some long awaiting pictures of the cabin of our beautiful boat!

Sailboat Puzzle

We have busy with Christmas festivities but since our last post, the structure is up. This is great because it has been raining heaps on the BC coast and now we can work on Arctic Loon under cover. It is like a puzzle putting everything together but Ellery is happy with the accomplishments so far. The skylight and hatch are in, as well as a few of the thru-hulls.
